Pyterlahden kartano Virolahdella – menneisyydestä nykypäivään
Pyterlahden kartano rakennettiin 1692, ja se on Suomen eräs vanhimpia asuttavana olevia puisia rakennuksia. Se on saneerattu moneen kertaan. Johan Carl Ludvig Engel suunnitteli taloon 1830-luvun lopulla mittavan remontin, josta näkyvimpinä muistoina ovat vanhan puutarhan puolen pylväät ja hiekkakäytävät. ”Hän työskenteli vuodesta 1816 Suomen suuriruhtinaskunnassa. Hänen arkkitehtuurinsa edusti uusklassista empiretyyliä. Engel loi pääkaupungiksi korotetulle Helsingille monumentaalikeskustan ja toimi koko suomalaisen rakennustaiteen suunnannäyttäjänä 1800-luvun alkupuoliskolla.” (Wikipedia)
Kartano oli alunperin Ruotsin kuningatar Kristiinan lahjoitustila. Tilalla ovat asuneet tunnetut aikalaissuvut, kuten Ekesparre, Pulsen ja Govenius. Varsinainen mahti-isäntä oli Anton Mäkelä. Nakari-suvun haltuun tila päätyi v. 1908.
Monen vaiheen jälkeen kartano on päätynyt Kyllikki Räsäsen ja Jorma Hemmin haltuun. Siellä on järjestetty useita tapahtumia, kuten syntymäpäiviä, näyttelyitä ja konsertteja. Monena kesänä kartanolla on toteutettu kirpputori niin kuin nytkin. Torilla myydään sekä vanhaa tavaraa että kohtalaisen uuttakin. Myös puistometsä on maínitsemisen arvoinen.

Pyterlahti mansion in Virolahti - from the past to today
Pyterlahti mansion was built in 1692, and it is one of the oldest wooden residential buildings in use in Finland. It has been renovated several times. Johan Carl Ludvig Engel planned a major renovation of the house in the late 1830s, the most visible memories of which are the columns and sand walkways on the side of the old garden.
”Johan Carl Ludvig Engel worked from 1816 in the Grand Duchy of Finland. His architecture represented the neoclassical empire style. Engel created a monumental center for Helsinki, which was elevated to the capital, and acted as a trendsetter for the entire Finnish architectural art in the first half of the 19th century.” (Wikipedia)
The mansion was originally the donation estate of Queen Kristina of Sweden. Well-known contemporary families, such as Ekesparre, Pulsen and Govenius, have lived there. The actual grand host was Anton Mäkelä. The mansion ended up in the possession of the Nakari family in 1908.
After many stages, it has ended up in the possession of Kyllikki Räsänen and Jorma Hemmi. Several events have been organized in the courtyard, such as birthdays, exhibitions and concerts. In many summers, a flea market has been held at the mansion, just as it is now. Both old and relatively new goods are sold there. The park forest is also worth mentioning.
Visitors are warmly welcome to also be accommodated at the mansion.
